Job Description:
- Technical Responsibilities:
- Oversee preparation and finalization of financial statements, tax returns, and compliance reports in line with accounting standards and relevant legislation.Perform complex reconciliations, review journal entries, and ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts.Lead payroll processing, tax planning, and financial analysis for clients.Review workpapers and outputs prepared by junior and intermediate accountants, ensuring quality and accuracy.Manage adjustments from audits/review points and provide solutions to complex accounting issues.Contribute to financial forecasting, budgeting, and risk analysis activities.Ensure efficient use of accounting software (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, etc.) and drive adoption of new tools or features for improved efficiency.
- Client Responsibilities:Act as a key point of contact for client accounts, ensuring smooth communication and delivery of services.Interact with clients through meetings/calls to gather information, review financial data, and provide strategic advice.Deliver accurate and timely outputs while maintaining high professional standards.Advise clients on legislative and regulatory changes, providing proactive solutions to meet compliance and optimize outcomes.Maximize client value by identifying opportunities for additional services, cross-referrals, and long-term advisory support.
- People & Team Leadership:Mentor, coach, and supervise junior and intermediate accountants, ensuring their growth and technical development.Allocate and review tasks across the team to ensure deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.Provide constructive feedback, encourage collaboration, and build a professional, positive work culture.Take accountability for managing workloads within budget requirements and resolving escalated issues.Contribute actively to team knowledge-sharing, training initiatives, and process improvement activities.
- Firm & Business Development:Ensure adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.Lead or participate in firm-wide strategic projects, process improvement initiatives, and working groups.Contribute to business development activities, including networking, cross-referrals, and client relationship growth.Represent the firm at marketing, networking, and community events, promoting its brand and values.
- Preferred Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation standardsHands-on expertise in Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks; practical knowledge in BAS, PAYG, ATO compliance.Experience in account finalization, audits, and tax advisory services
